The Credentials Of Attorney John Jensen

John Jensen is an accomplished trial attorney who over the course of his career has helped his clients achieve record-setting recoveries.

During his years of practice, John has represented people who have been critically injured on the job, people who have been harmed or lost loved ones due to medical malpractice, people whose parents have been abused or neglected in nursing homes, people who have been catastrophically injured in automobile and trucking collisions, people whose children have been killed by defective products and people who have been victims of crime.

Prior to forming the Jensen Law Group, John was a partner at Jensen McGrath Podgorny P.A., one of the premiere catastrophic injury firms in North Carolina. Previous to that, John was a partner at Faison & Gillespie, a firm specializing in medical malpractice cases. John's training as a litigator, however, occurred in Washington, D.C., where he spent six years practicing with Ross, Dixon & Bell, a 100-lawyer firm specializing in the defense of complex litigation cases.

John is actively involved in the North Carolina Advocates for Justice. He has served as the Chair of the Professional Negligence Section and as the Technology Chair for the Professional Negligence Section. He has served as a PAC Trustee and a member of the Public Education Committee. Recently, he served on a joint committee of the North Carolina Bar and the North Carolina Medical Society to revise North Carolina's Medico-Legal Guidelines.

John has chaired and taught numerous seminars to other attorneys in North Carolina on a wide range of topics, including the use of technology at trial, law firm marketing, trial skills instruction, discovery tactics (including electronic discovery) and the psychology of a successful jury trial.

John's career as a trial attorney is marked by a history of success on behalf of his clients:

  • Recently, he helped two workers who were severely burned in a workplace explosion recover $8.7 million for their injuries.
  • John recovered $2.35 million for an injured worker who was burned while performing maintenance on a private jet.
  • $3.5 million was recovered by Attorney Jensen for a worker who suffered a brain injury after inhaling dangerous chemicals during an industrial accident.

  • John helped another of his clients obtain a jury verdict of $4.5 million against a surgeon who failed to diagnose and treat a patient's appendicitis, resulting in his death after 10 days of hospitalization.
  • In cases against a major automobile manufacturer, he represented three separate families whose children's deaths were caused by a defective automobile door latch. One of these cases ultimately resulted in a $262.5 million verdict in favor of the family.
